Allstate-VHSL Achievement Award
Who: Male athlete, female athlete,
academic activities participant plus a student who has overcome exceptional odds from a
Group A, AA and AAA school
Qualifications: Participation in VHSL sports or activities (debate,
drama, forensics, school publications, scholastic bowl) as well as other community, civic
and school activities while maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.0
Nomination: By school, one male athlete, one female athlete, one academic
activities participant and one for Courageous Achievement
Amount: $1,000
Deadline Date: March 15 of each year

Who: Schools outstanding
publications staff member (magazine, newsmagazine, newspaper and/or yearbook) planning to

Qualifications: Outstanding participation on one or more high school
publications staff while maintaining high academic standards
Nomination: By school, one nomination per school
Amount: $500

Wachovia Citizenship Award
Who: One male and one female
student-participant in each group (A, AA and AAA) who demonstrate outstanding traits of
citizenship in his/her high school.
Qualifications: Participation in VHSL activity, contributions to
family, school and community, promotion of good citizenship and sportsmanship.
Nomination: By school, one female student-participant, one male
student-participant
Amount: $1,000
Deadline Date: March 15 of each year

VHSL-Wachovia Sportsmanship, Ethics
and Integrity Program
Who: Schools in each group
(A, AA and AAA) who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, ethics and integrity
Qualifications: Achievement of program requirements
(promoting and emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity
school-wide)
Nomination: By school, with application and supporting
documents
Amount: No monetary award, schools receive a plaque and
display banner
Deadline Date: May 1 of each year

Regional Award of Merit
Who: One administrator, one
athletic coach, one other contributor from each region
Qualifications: Significant contributions to VHSL activities
at the school, district or region level
Nomination: By region, up to three total awards
Deadline Date: April 15 of each year

Lifetime Achievement Award/Torch of
Honor
Who: Administrators, Athletic
Coaches and Contributors (coaches, directors or advisers of VHSL academic activities; game
officials; print or broadcast journalists; medical support or trainer; etc.)
Qualifications: For Lifetime Achievement, long-standing
service of at least 15 years and exceptional dedication to the Virginia High School League
or its programs. For Torch of Honor, exceptional service above and beyond the call
of duty at the regional and/or state level, over a period of at least five years.
Nomination: By region or by individual associated with a
VHSL school.
Deadline Date: April 15 of each year
