VHSL Handbook 27-2-4 State Clinic Attendance Requirement - Any school sponsoring an interscholastic activity in any of the following sports or academic areas shall require at least one member of that activity's coaching staff to attend a VHSL sponsored rules clinic for that activity in each year that one is offered: Baseball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Cheer, Field Hockey, Football, Girls Gymnastics, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Softball, Boys Swim and Dive, Girls Swim and Dive, Boys Track, Girls Track, Boys Volleyball, Girls Volleyball, Wrestling, Theatre, Forensics, Debate and Scholastic Bowl. Failure to attend will result in a penalty as stated in 30-5-1.
Officials and judges must meet the clinic requirement each year to be eligible for assignment to varsity level competitions.
Most rules clinics are now offered online.
In 2015-16, VHSL Rules Clinics in the sports of Field Hockey, Volleyball and Gymnastics will be done face-to-face instead of online. Schedules have been posted on each sport's webpage and on the "Athletic Rules Clinics" page. All other sports rules clinics will be online.
7/19/2015 11:30 PM - The 2015 online FOOTBALL rules clinic that was scheduled to open on July 20 has been delayed. A link to the clinic will be posted as soon as it becomes available. Coaches and officials will have 3 weeks to complete the clinic requirement once online.
