VHSL Announces 4A Boys and Girls All-State Soccer Teams

Kettle Run's Bhayle Kearns selected 4A Boys Player of the Year; Jefferson Forest's Karishma Nair named 4A Girls Player of the Year; Kettle Run's Philip Roper named 4A Boys Coach of the Year; Jefferson Forest's Matt Newton named 4A Girls Coach of the Year

The Virginia High School League 2017 Group 4A Boys all-state boys and girls soccer teams have been selected. Kettle Run senior midfielder Bhayle Kearns and Jefferson Forest senior goalkeeper Karishma Nair were selected the boys and girls 4A Players of the Year. Kettle Run head coach Philip Roper and Jefferson Forest head coach Matt Newton were named the 4A boys and girls Coaches of the Year.  Kettle Run won the 4A boys title with a 3-2 OT win over Charlottesville and Jefferson Forest claimed the 4A girls title over Salem-Salem in PK's (4-1).

Sixteen (16) players are chosen on the first team and 16 players are selected for the second team.  The team is made up of five (5) forwards; five (5) midfielders; five (5) defenders, and one (1) goalkeeper. Only first-team all-region selections are eligible for selection to the all-state team.

Each all-state selection committee is composed of eight soccer coaches (four from each region).
