VHSL Announces 2A All-State Basebal Team

John Battle's Hunter Brown named 2A Player of the Year; Dan River's Jacob Waller named 2A Coach of the Year


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA
The Virginia High School League 2017 Group 2A all-state baseball team has been selected. John Battle senior outfielder Hunter Brown was named the 2A Player of the Year and Dan River Head Coach Jacob Waller was selected the 2A Coach of the Year.  Brown led John Battle to the state finals, while Waller's Wildcats claimed the 2A state title with a 5-4 walk-off win over the Trojans. Other group all-state teams will be announced as they are selected.

14 individuals were selected to the all-state squad, which includes -- three pitchers, one catcher, four infielders by position, four outfielders, one DH, and one utility player.  Only first-team all-region selections are eligible for selection to the all-state team.

Each all-state selection committee is composed of eight baseball coaches (four from each region).
