
DID YOU KNOW -- VHSL held its first boys tennis championships in 1924 with Galax High School taking top honors. Before the current A, AA and AAA groupings began in 1971, Maury High School of Norfolk won a VHSL-record 14 state titles. Since 1971, Mills E. Godwin High School of Richmond has won 13 championships, (eight in Group AAA and five consecutive from 1982-86 in Group AA) and George Mason High School of Falls Church has won 13 titles, including six straight from 1986-91. Harrisonburg High School won a VHSL-record eight consecutive championships from 1969-76.
In 2010, Deep Run High School of Glen Allen won its first-ever Group AAA crown, while in Group AA, Jamestown High School of Williambsur won its first title. In Group A, George Mason High School returned to the winning podium for the first time since 2007.
3,129 boys at 250 member schools participated in boys tennis during the 2009 season.

Take 29 south into Charlottesville to the 250-East Bypass toward Richmond. Drive approximately four miles on 250. After you pass the Pantops Shopping Center (Applebees, Giant, Starbucks, Liberty Gas Station), turn RIGHT onto State Farm Blvd. The VHSL building is the fourth building on the right.
Take I-64 East to Exit 124/Shadwell. Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp onto Hwy. 250. At the fourth light, turn left onto State Farm Blvd. The VHSL building is the fourth building on the right.
I-64 West to Exit 124/Shadwell. Turn right on Rt. 250. At the fourth light, turn Left on State Farm Blvd. The VHSL building is the fourth building on the right.
