Boys Tennis

DID YOU KNOW -- VHSL held its first boys tennis championships in 1924 with Galax High School taking top honors. Before the current A, AA and AAA groupings began in 1971, Maury High School of Norfolk won a VHSL-record 14 state titles. Since 1971, Mills E. Godwin High School of Richmond has won 13 championships, (eight in Group AAA and five consecutive from 1982-86 in Group AA) and George Mason High School of Falls Church has won 14 titles, including six straight from 1986-91. Harrisonburg High School won a VHSL-record eight consecutive championships from 1969-76. 

In 2011, Deep Run High School of Glen Allen won its second-straight Group AAA crown, while in Group AA, Salem High School of Salem won its third overall title. In Group A, George Mason High School also won it's second straight championship.

3,143 boys at 246 member schools participated in boys tennis during the 2010 season.
