Boys Golf

DID YOU KNOW - VHSL held its first boys golf championships in 1932 with Jefferson Senior of Roanoke winning the first of its three straight team titles and PGA Hall of Famer Chandler Harper from Woodrow Wilson High School of Portsmouth winning the individual championship. Since then, Stonewall Jackson High School of Quicksburg has won a VHSL-record nine championships. Frank W. Cox High School of Virginia Beach posted a VHSL-record low score of 584 at the 2006 Group AAA championships. 

Giles High School took home the Group A 2009 championship trophy winning by 14 strokes over defending champ  Galax (622-636), while in Group AA,  Jamestown dashed Blacksburg's hope for a four-peat  (585-588).   In Group AAA, Westfield High School claimed its first-ever VHSL golf championship in 2009 oudistancing second-place James Madison by 11 strokes (617-628).

2,920 boys and 331 girls at 292 member schools participated in golf in 2008.

Handbook Changes

The VHSL Executive Committee approved several changes to the VHSL Handbook related to golf. More»
