DID YOU KNOW -- In 1916, John Marshall High School of Richmond defeated Harrisonburg High School, 6-1, in the first ever VHSL state baseball championship game. Since then, J.J. Kelly High School of Wise has won a VHSL-record nine state titles, including four straight from 1981-84. Richmond's J.R. Tucker High School and Bridgewater's Turner Ashby High School have each won six VHSL championships.

In 2011, Great Bridge won its second Group AAA crown, while Northside won its first Group AA title.  In Group A, Honaker claimed the Division 2 crown, while Page County won the Division 1 championship.

9,307 boys and 2 girls at 306 member schools participated in baseball during the 2010 season.
