Regional Journalism Workshops

  • VHSL/Jostens Regional Journalism Workshops - For a fourth year, the VHSL is offering regional workshop opportunities for newspaper, literary magazine and yearbook advisers and staffs! The fourth annual VHSL/Jostens Regional one-day workshop series, featuring instructors of national acclaim, will be held September 15 in Virginia Beach, September 16 in Richmond, September 17 in Roanoke and September 18 in Dulles. Join us for sessions on prose and poetry, leadership, InDesign, personality profile writing, copyright law, typography and more! Register by September 11 to receive the $30-per-person rate. After September 11, registration fees increase to $40. Advisers who attend this workshop may also wish to register for one hour of graduate credit from Virginia Commonwealth University for an additional $125. Click here for registration form.

VASDDC Annual Conference

  • Virginia Association of Speech, Debate and Drama Coaches Annual Conference - This year's annual conference will be October 3-4 at the English Inn at 2000 Morton Drive in Charlottesville. District and regional forensics, theatre and debate tournament directors for the 2008-09 school year are encouraged to attend as there will be special workshops to assist those with these duties. Hotel rooms may be reserved at $93 + tax per night by calling 800-786-5400. Please reserve early, as the hotel tends to fill quickly. Workshop registration is $100, payable to VASDDC.

VHSL Championship Journalism Workshop

  • VHSL Championship Journalism Workshop - This (one or) two-day event, will be held in Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University on October 18 and 19. Sessions are brought to you by professional media, college level instructors and member school advisers across the state who have achieved consistent success with their publications and who are eager to share new ideas! There is no limit to the size of the delegation attending this workshop, so join us in our 38th year of scholastic journalism training - the state's largest program for high school students and advisers!

 

The Crowne Plaza (555 East Canal Street) will be the official host hotel for this event and a limited number of rooms have been reserved at $94 + tax per single, double, triple or quad.
