Respect! That's what good sportsmanship is all about - plain and simple. VHSL schools are solid in their commitment to conducting their programs in a manner which reflects positively on their schools and communities. Before purchasing a ticket to a VHSL event, please make sure you are aware of our event standards.
VHSL Calendar
The VHSL Calendar is based on the NFHS Standard Weeks Calendar, where Week 1 is the first full week in July each year (Sunday to Saturday).

DID YOU KNOW -- In 2010-11, the VHSL Writing/Photo/Design contest completed its ninth year and continues to make slow but steady growth.
Contest entries are evaluated using a two-phase volunteer judging system using active and/or retired VHSL advisers. All judges review entries from a school of a different grouping than their own. Phase I judges narrow total entries to the top five submissions per category. These five entries serve as contest finalists. In phase II, judges work as a team to rank the finalists as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Judges may also designate an honorable mention.
All winners receive certificates which are presented at the Regional Publications Championship in October. Additionally, first place winners are listed in the VHSL Book of Records.
